The monumental building of the National museum towering above the Wenceslas square was built in Renaissance Revival style in 1885 – 1891 according to the design of J. Schulz. Top Czech artists participated in decorating the building. The national shrine dedicated to memory of famous personalities of the Czech nation is located under the Pantheon dome. The entrance of the building is guarded by the statues of History and Natural Science, symbolizing the principal activities of the National museum that was founded already in 1818. Its collections in the field of history and natural science were assembled due to systematic scientific activities and donations and contributions of Czech patriots and enlighteners. Expositions include unique articles of worldwide significance. AddressNárodní muzeum |
