Church of the Virgin Mary Victorious - The Museum of the Infant Jesus of Prague

The construction of the church began in around 1611, as the first Baroque building in Prague. The single nave, spacious interior allows the rich, Baroque altars to dominate. On the main altar are three paintings by the noted Czech painter, P. Brandl. But the rarest treasure of world-renown lies hidden in a side altar - the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague, which has become an object of religious devotion worldwide. Visitors to the little museum can also see sixty little out-fits donated to the statue by pilgrims from all over the world. A piece of embroidery dating from 1735 deserves particular attention, and was allegedly sewn by the Empress Maria Theresa herself.
