Church of the our Lady Snowy

Church founded by the emperor Charles IV in 1379 belongs among the most significant monuments of Gothic architecture. It is the highest church structure in Bohemia and its altar is the largest one in Prague. Its fate is extraordinary as well. At the time of Hussite reformation it was the place of Jan Želivský's preaching, one of the leaders of the Hussite movement. Artistic decoration of the church is excellent. On the altar you will see the Annunciation, V. V. Reiner's picture of 1724, one of the most beautiful Baroque works in Bohemia. In the north-side lane of the church you can see the gate leading to the former parish cemetery, decorated with figures of Charles IV and his first wife Blanche of Valois, originating in 1360.
